How To Use A Cut-Throat Razor

Use a cut-throat razor to clean around your beard lines and create a sharper, more precise finish at home.

Fit The Blade

Watch the video above to see exactly how the blade fits into the razor. If you're using a standard double-edge blade, split it in half while it is still inside its wrapper, then securely position one half inside the blade holder.

Prepare The Skin

Wash the area with warm water first to help soften the beard hair before shaving.

Apply Clear Shaving Gel

Apply a thin layer of clear shaving gel over the area you're shaving. The lubrication helps the blade glide, while the clear formula lets you see your beard line as you work.

Stretch The Skin

Use your free hand to gently pull the skin tight. This creates a flatter surface and gives you better control of the razor.

Hold The Blade At Around 30°

Keep the blade at a shallow angle to the skin rather than holding it upright. Around 30° is a good starting point.

Use Short, Light Strokes

Use very little pressure and make short, controlled strokes. Let the sharpness of the blade do the work.

Follow Your Beard Line

Work along the shape you've already created with your trimmer, removing the remaining stubble around the cheek line and neckline. If you're new to the technique, start by shaving with the direction of hair growth.

Rinse & Finish

Rinse the skin and check your beard from both sides. Clean and dry the razor after use, and dispose of used blades safely.
